Sloka 277:

VIVEKACHUDAMANI TAMIL DISCOURSE : CHAPTER 1 - SLOKA 272-274 - DEC-11-2015

Om Namasivaya Nama:

GIVE UP VASANAS continued.

Sloka 272:

These three type of desires (Deha vasana, Loka vasana & Sasthra vasana) will bind him/her down to Samsar. Those who free from them will attain liberation.

Sloka 273:

The captivating natural fragrance object will loose its good aroma due to the contact of odor objects, Just a water wash may not be sufficient to remove the odor. Some hard wash such as scrubbing may be required to remove bad smell. Like wise some vasanaas to be removed only by hard discrimination act.

Sloka 274:

Because of Vasanas, the human personality get defeat after defeat. The fragrance of the Supreme Self is like sandle wood is covered by the dust of un-ending vaasanas deeply ingrained in the mind. This is being regained through self inquiries and absolute knowledge.

VIVEKACHUDAMANI TAMIL DISCOURSE : CHAPTER 1 - SLOKA 267-271 - DEC-04-2015

Om Namasivaya Nama:

GIVE UP VASANAS:

Sloka 267:

Book knowledge will not help in giving up Vasanas. Giving up Vasanas alone takes one to liberation (Mukthi). Duality has to be eradicated (Doer and Enjoyer) to overcome Vasanas because Vasanas are very powerful. This Universe is nothing but full of Vasanaas.

Sloka 268:

The sense of I and My is main obstacles The ego within the physical structure is 'I' and the extension of "I" projected in to the world of objects is called "My". Therefore kill superimposition for better realization which is nothing but identification with his own Self.

Sloka 269:

The Self within is to be known as the Witness of the intellect and its thought. One must realize his/her inner most Self.

Sloka 270:

Leaving one's involvement with social formalities (Loka-Anuvartham), beautifying the body (Sareera-Anuvartham) and un-necessary study of Sasthras (Sasthraa-Anuvartham) will banish the superimposition which has crept up on the Self.

Sloka 271:

People cannot attain Realization due to the above three Anuvarthams being obstacle.
