GARBHA UPANISHAD - In Detail

A question raised by Sri Maharshi Aswalayanan

In Prasna Upanishad, Thritheeya Prasnam Maharshi Pilladha Aswalayana Samvadham!

Whence does life come into the body? How does it abide? How does it go out of the body? How does life interface with the external world? How is it connected with the Self (Sookshma Sareeram)?

Sloka 6 explained:

One must do Garbha Dhanam on an auspicious time that too when the couple is really in a happy mood. During Rithu Kalam from 4th day onwards during ovulation period the female produce Andam which is capable of accepting the Bheejam from the male partner. When such an act takes palace i.e. on the joining of the male and female, the embryo (Garbham), after a day it will get mixed to a semi-flued state. In other words, within 12 to 24 hours time the Bheeja and Anda (Siva and Sakthi) join together and form a single cell (Jeeva Kosam) and later the same cell will multiply from its own and create the entire physical body of a baby. Within seven nights it will be in the form of a "Bubble" called Budhbudham, within fifteen days time it will be a Pindakaram (solid mass) thereafter within thirty days it hardens. During the third week time, the cell (hormone of the embryo) will instruct the ovaries not to produce any further eggs accordingly the Rithu Darsanam will be suspended.

This first-month activity is controlled and nurtured by the influence of planet Venus (Sukran). The size of the embryo will be approximately a "Poppy Seed".

Let me give you some more insights about Garbha Dhanam according to Astrology. The entire scientific methodology comes out of Astrology and it is being a part of Vedas. Thousands of years before our great sages (Maharshis) were able to know these Prakruthi Rahasyam through their meditation. We are indebted to them throughout our life. All these Rishis shared their knowledge at free of cost keeping the welfare of the human race in mind! They were not paid USD grants! for submitting their doctrines. They deserve only praising rather than humiliating them!

1. At one ejection of Semen (Suklam) a man produces 50 crores of Bheejas (approximately 500 million).

2. Garbha Dharana Samayam is indicated that the pregnancy can materialize in 100 hours i.e. 4 days 4 hours time. From the Rithu Darsanam day, approximately during 13,14,15,16 days (Ovulation days), the Andam comes out and grab the live Bheejam if it is available. The life span of an Andam is only 1 day and 2 to 3 days for the Bheejam.

3. The nectar of life energy is called Jeeva Rasam or Suklam. Sukla is actually produced by the Budhi (Brain) through Lingam. 65 to 80 drops of Red blood makes 1 drop of Suklam (semen). Now one can imagine the power (Veeryam) of Sukla. The physical body will survive as long as this Jeeva Dhravyam remains in our body.

4. During the intercourse (Garbha Dhana Samayam) if the breath is passing through the right nostril (Uchwasam-Exhale) of a male partner then the child will be born as Male and in the case of female if the breath is passing through left nostril then chances of getting Female child is confirmed. If both partners breath is passing through left means Female and right means Male child.

5. Some auspicious stars are recommended for Garbha Dhana Muhoortham. They are 1. Arudra (Thiruvathira), 2. Punarvasu (Panarpoosam), 3. Pushyam (Poosam), 4. Aslesha (Ayilyam), 5. Makam, 6. Poorva-phalghuni (Pooram), 7. Uthara-phalghuni (Uthram), 8. Hastham, 9. Chithra, 10. Swathi, 11. Visakham, 12. Anuradha (Anusham).

6. Garbha Raksha Homam can be conducted during the 4th month period.

7. A female may not conceive due to some specific planetary combinations in Female's horoscope such as 1. Sun in Lagna, Saturn in 7th and Jupiter aspects on the 10th house, 2. Sun and Saturn in 7th house, 10th house aspected by Jupiter, 3. Saturn and Mars either in 4th or 6th house, 4. 5th Bhavam or 5th lord come in between another set of Paapis (Natural Paapis are Sun, Mars, Satun, Rahu and Kethu), 5. 5th Bhava Karakan falls between Paapis. Please note God can make changes, therefore, don't panic with these rules. Leave everything to God and surrender to him/her.

8. One should not give Garbha Dhanam on these days such as 1. During Maasa Sankramana days, 2. Before and during Pithrudhinam/Thidhi/Srardham day, 3. During Asaucham/Theettu/Vilakku days, 4. Own birthdays, 5. Prathama, Ashtami, Navami, Eakadasi, Chathurdasi, Poornima, Amavasya days (both Paksham especially during Krishna Paksham), 6. Tuesdays and Saturdays.

9. Approximately 800 full eggs (Andaas) will be stored in a healthy woman. Every 28th days one Egg will be out and look for Bheejam this is process is called Rithu Darsanam or Period. Sakthi looking for the union of Siva, and it could not locate Siva it will die of its own within 24 hours time. This is the beauty of nature!

In two months, it develops the head. The circulatory system is beginning to form, and the tiny "Heart" will start to beat. Baby's nose, mouth and ears are starting to take shape, and the intestines and brain are beginning to develop. The baby still has a tail, little hands and feet that look more like paddles and emerging from the developing arms and legs. The baby has started moving around though the mother will not feel yet. Nerve cells are branching out, forming primitive neural pathways. Breathing tubes now extend from its throat to developing lungs.

This second-month activity is controlled and nurtured by the influence of planet Mars (Kujan). The size of the embryo will be approximately from "Sesame Seed to Kidney Bean".

In three months; the feet grow and its embryonic tail has disappeared. Basic physiology is in place including earlobes. By now the embryo has completed the most critical portion of the development.  The baby's skin is translucent. The tiny limbs can bend and nails are starting to form. Kicking, stretching and even hiccupping since diaphragm develops, yet mother can't feel it. At end of 3rd-month baby's reflexes kicks in, fingers will open and close, toes will curl, the mouth will make sucking movements.

This third-month activity is controlled and nurtured by the influence of planet Jupiter (Guru). The size of the embryo will be approximately from "Grape to Lime".

Sloka 7 explained:

In the fourth month, belly and hip are formed. Tiny fingers are now having fingerprints, veins and organs are clearly visible through the skin. It is a female child then she would possess more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Kidneys started working now. The baby started sucking its thumb. Baby's eyelids are still fused shut, but it can sense the light. Baby's sex can also be ascertained in this month. The patterning of the scalp has begun though the hair is not visible yet. Head is more upright and ears are close to their final position.

This fourth-month activity is controlled and nurtured by the influence of planet Sun (Sooryan). The size of the embryo will be approximately from "3 Inch green piece to Avocado".

In the fifth month, the backbone is formed. The umbilical code is growing stronger and thicker. The baby will flex its arms and legs. The mother can feel the movement. Baby's Panchendriyas (senses) start functioning i.e. hearing, touch, vision, taste, smell. The baby can now hear your sound. The baby will start swallowing since its digestive system is producing meconium, the dark, sticky goo that will pass in a first poop.

This fifth-month activity is controlled and nurtured by the influence of planet  Moon (Chandran). The size of the embryo will be approximately from "Avocado to Banana".

GARBHA UPANISHAD - In Detail

Om Gam Ganapathaye Nama:, Om Sam Saraswathyai Nama:, Om Sri Gurubhyo Nama:, Om Sri Pippalaadha Maharshe Nama:

A question raised by Sri Maharshi Aswalayanan

In Prasna Upanishad, Thritheeya Prasnam Maharshi Pilladha Aswalayana Samvadham!

Whence does life come into the body? How does it abide? How does it go out of the body? How does life interface with the external world? How is it connected with the Self (Sookshma Sareeram)?

Sloka 2 explained:

Since the combinations of Prithvi, Jalam, Thejass/Agni, Vayu and Akasam makes the basic structure of Sthoola Sareeram it is called Panchathmakam. Since it is called as Aathmathathwam, it is also indicating that all these were initially one! Pippalada Maharshi further explaining as to how to identify these elements in our body. Please note these were topics were discussed thousands of years before. Maharshis used their inner eye as the microscope. What is hard is Prithvi (Earth), what is fluid is Water (Jalam), what is warm is fire (Thejas), what moves is Air (Vayu) and what is space is Ether (Akasam).

Sloka 3 explained:

Now Maharshi explaining the fundamental duties of these elements in our body. There the earth is to support (Dharanam), water is to consolidate, fire is for light, the air is for movement, and ether is to provide space. After these five elements next important functions come from Indriyas (Sense Organs) Ears are to receive the sound/words, the Skin for touch that too the joy of sound is felt through Skin, Tongue for identifying taste and talk, and Nose for smell and breathing. The genitalia is for pleasure and Apaana (Anal) for evacuation/discharge. The one cognizes with the intellect (Budhi), envisions with the mind (Manas) and speaks with words (Vak). The Budhi is providing the Ghyan (This Ghyan comes from the current as well as previous birth activities).

Sloka 4 explained:

How is the Shad-thathvams (Shad Rasam) support the body is explained. It is said that the six tastes from the food contribute everything for the body to nourish and sustain, they are, sweet, bitter, spicy, sour, salt, kashayam (astringent). Besides these, through the Sravanarasam (joy of hearing) also contributing to the body for prosperity. Perhaps, Paramathma initially shared its Agna (Instruction) through the sound (Dhwani) known as Vedas. The fundamental structure for these sounds is known as Sapthaswaraas viz. Shadjam, Rishabham, Gandharam, Panchamam, Madhyamam, Dhaivatham and Nishadam. The other structure is Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni. Another opinion is to make this Sthoola Sareeram further rich and joyful, besides these Saptha Swaras the creator added another three Swaraas called Ishtaswaram, Anishtaswaram and Praarthanaswaram (Pranidhaakaaram) totalling Dhasaswaraas that attracts the Sthoola Sareeram (Body) for its growth.

Sloka 5 explained:

All of us know, the Sun gives Sapthavarnaas (Seven colours). The same Sun is giving Praana (life energy) to a body. These colours also contribute to the sustainable growth of the Sareeram (Body). The subtle form of Sun energy sits in the centre of Heart and keeps supplying these colours as liquids/blood in our body. They are white, red, black, smoky grey, yellow, tawny and pale. This precious body is called "Devadathan". This Upanishad also reconfirming that the human race was created individually than a progressed version of Apes or other animal cells etc. Paramathma took these seven colours from the Sun and deposited in the human body so that the humans can enjoy bodily happiness (Bhogyavishayaas), while the humans enjoying these benefits the heart chamber is occupied by the Paramathma to witness and ensure that the benefits are impartially given to all. This Sapthavarnaas support to make Sapthdhathus and create the body (Sthoola Sareeram).  From the proper combination of six qualities, six types of taste (shad rasa) emerged. Thereafter, from the relish of food, blood is created, from its flesh, thence fat, bones, marrow and finally semen. By the combination of semen (Sukla) and blood (Sonitham/Eggs), the Garbha (embryo) is born and its growth is regulated by the heart not only for the baby but also the mother. All these Seven Dhathoos are in the heart where there's inner fire; at the place of the fire is Pitta (bile); at the Pitta-organs is movement (Vayu) and at the Vayu, the place is the Heart, all of them growing in order according to the law of Prajapathi (Creator).

I would like to give a preface summary notes before entering into the detailed discussion about Gharba Upanishad.

It has been mentioned in Vedas and various Upanishads that the creator Paramthma has created 8.4 million (84 lakhs) types of living beings, in that sect Human is one among them. When comparing other living beings Humans are bestowed with Viveka Budhi, Manasakthi and aim to achieve Self Realization. Humans resemble or model of this Brahmandam (Cosmic Universe, the sum of consciousness). Whatever is there in the Universe is having the same in a subtle form in the Human body including the life force. It is not easy to get Human birth, it is a progress of its life energy (Sookshma Sareeram / Jeevathma). Humans should be proud of their past good deeds for this achievement. Spiritually civilized should be considered as a perfect human being (not materially civilized).

There is five (5) permanent absolute truth that exists in this Universe irrespective of the time and space. They are 1. Easwaran (Paramathma), 2. Jeevan (Sookshma Sareeram / Life energy), 3. The Cosmic Universe including Earth, 4. Karma (deeds), 5. Maya (illusion/ignorance).

Keeping this in mind, as long as Karma exists the cycle of birth and death system will be active. Moreover, Ragam (Desires), Dwesham (Anger) and Agnaanam (Ignorance) is the main cause of Human birth. These are the bi-products of Karma and Maya. It is very difficult to overcome its effects.

Karmas are four types namely Sanchitham, Prarabdham, Aagami, Varthamanam. The Sanchitha Karma is the reservoir of rewards of good and bad deeds (Punya and Paapa). As per the master plan of the creator, some portion of the Sanchitha deeds will mature or show its desire to offload its debts accordingly Human birth will be granted, why only human being? because only humans can pay back the debts due to their responsibilities in the priority ranking list compare with other living beings. The Creator has designed 7 (seven) types of living beings in this Earth viz.  1. Sasya Lathaadhi (Plants and Trees etc), 2. Mathsya Jala Jeevi (Fish and other earthly living beings), 3. Uraga (Reptiles), 4. Pakshi (Birds and flying beings), 5. Mruga (Animals), 6. Manushya (Humans), 7. Deva (Divine celestial personalities). Humans are already in the higher rank in the Srushti-krama chakram. Therefore, the creator is doing a favour for this Jeevathma to pay back its debts by accepting/adopting human body and ascend to the supreme position such as Deva.

The human body is well stocked with 23 Vikaraas (Disorders/Transformations), 36 Spiritual Thathwas (Reality/Truth/Philosophical system) and 96 Material Thathwas (systems/disciplines).

There are 4 types of birth that take place in this Earth called 1. Andajam (through Eggs), 2. Bheejajam / Uthbheejam (through Sperms), 3. Swethajam (through Sweat), 4. Jarayutham (through roots). Humans are born through Bheejajam process.

What prompts living beings to enter the Earth and live as per their inherent duties (Mukhya dharma) is explained that from Brahmam (Almighty God) Vedas will emerge, from Vedas Karma, from Karma Yagnam, from Yagnam Rain, from Rain the Annam (Food grains) and from Annam the Jeevas/Life begins (life energy). This is the chronology of a Jeevathma entering the Earth.

For Human beings, Self-realization (Athma Sakshathkaram) is the utmost priority than God-realization (Bhagavath Sakthathkaram).

From Agnanam (Total Absolute Ignorance) Ghnaanam will take birth, from Ghnaanam the Vighnaanam will be born, from Vighnaanam the Paramaghnaanam (Ultimate Truth) will be born. The seeker who escapes from Maya is considered as the attainment of Moksham (Liberation). Through spiritual practices, one can achieve this truth. Human birth is meant for total permanent enjoyment and not for suffering. However, due to Prarabdha Karma, everyone is dragged into this battle and suffer. The ultimate long-lasting enjoyment comes only through Spiritual Practices (selfless actions). Please note we are here to pay back not to receive!!!

Therefore, keeping all those important doctrines we can come to the conclusion that the Garbha Kalam (pregnancy period) is meant for total enjoyment and spread/share happiness for oneself as well as among blood relatives. No to suffer at. Again, unfortunately, many suffer due to multiple reasons again Prarabdha!

It is also said in the Upanishad that why the human body is called Sareeram because it undergoes 6 changes from the formation of 1. Asthi (bone), 2. Janamm (birth), 3. Pushti (growth), 4. Poornam (saturation), 5. Kshayam (depreciate), 6. Naasam/Maranam (perishes/death).

------

Sloka 1 explained:

The body is made up of Pachathmakam (fivefold in nature/the five elements), that depending on the six supports given by the Shadgunaas (six qualities/tastes), prompted and support seven Dhatus (ingredients) and Thri-dosha (three impurities) plus having Dwi-yonis (two sex) and Chathuvidham (four kinds of food nourishes). The fundamental structure is raised and nourished by these activities.

GARBHA UPANISHAD - DEC-04-2020 - EPISODE-08

Om Namasivaya Nama:

GARBHA UPANISHAD

Om Gam Ganapathaye Nama:, Om Sam Saraswathyai Nama:, Om Sri Gurubhyo Nama:, Om Sri Pippalaadha Maharshe Nama:

Panchama Prasna: Q5 (Questioned by Sri Sathyakaman Maharishi) continued...

What is the importance of AUM (OM), if one were to meditate on the symbol "OM" until death, what would one obtain by doing so? How does one meditate or do Upasana of AUM?

The Omkaram is the direct embodiment or symbol of Parabrahma Purushan / Paramathma. The sound of Omkaram (AUM/OM) is as good as calling the God/Creator. There is no difference between Omkaram and Parameswaran. The cosmic world is derived from Paramathma is called Virat-Roopam. The one who chants, remembers and meditates Om without any expectations (Nishkamya) will eventually merge with its origin who is none other than Paramathman itself or else achieve the desired target of the seeker/practioner, such person will be part and parcel of Paramathman too.

Omkaram itself three worlds (one physical and two celestial worlds) and three words (Mathra) of Parabrahma Parameswar known as Bhur-Bhuva-Swa (Earth-Paradise-Brahmalok/Akara-Ukara-Makaram). Those who practice divine activities of Bhooloka (Earth) will again return to the Earth after leaving the existing body. Bhooloka is representing Rigvedam therefore the rewards for such Sookshma Sareeram (Jeevathma) is to return to a gross mortal body that practices Rigvedam and enjoy the benefits of high-class life. With this new life, the person will achieve Thapas, Brahmacharyam and Bakthi. Thereafter, this Jeevathma will not again take birth in Neecha Yonis (low-class being) but will not attain Mukthi. The transmigration process remains with a better life.

When the Sadhaka practices Omkaram with two Mathras, that is realizing/accepting that Paramathma is present in Bhooloka as well as Swargaloka (Bhur-Bhuva) will ascend to Chandraloka (Manomayalokam) after the death. The Yajurvedam is representing Bhuvalokam accordingly its power will guide the Jeevathma to reach Chanralokam thereafter ascending to Swargaloka. This Jeevathma will experience all types of pleasure and happiness in this celestial world then return to Earth as human. This means by practising spiritual activities of Earth and Swarga will not guarantee Moksham to the Jeevathma. Most of people will practice these two mathra activities.

When the Sadhaka practices Omkaram with three Mathras (Bhur-Bhuva-Swa), at one stage he/she will realize that the Parabrahma Parameswar/Paramathma is present in all the three worlds (Gross-Subtle-Infinite). Due to which he/she will be relieved from routine activities and become unattached to everything and remain liberated. The Samaveda Mantra Sakthi will help the Jeevathma to ascend through Sooryamandalam and reach Brahmalok. In the Brahmalok this Jeevathma will achieve the full realization that it reached the lotus feet of Paramathma and meet the end of transmigration system. This experience will reveal that such Paramathma is ever pervading and it resides in all Lokas as well as in human's heart.

It is very difficult to escape from the transmigration system for those who see God only in Bahyaroopam (outside i.e. different from self) or only in religion. However, those who practice and realize that God's presence is everywhere from atom to atom i.e. in the outer, inner and in between will eventually merge with Paramathma (Supremesoul). The only condition, such practice has to be Nishkamyaroopam (the form of without any expectations) with serious intention to realize God.

Rigveda Mantra power will help the Jeevathma to Mruthyulok (Earth), Yajurveda Mantra will empower to reach Chandraloka followed by Swargam and Samaveda Mantra power will enable to the Jeevathma to reach Sooryamandalam followed by Brahmalokam. One must practice Omkaram = Bhur-Bhuva-Swa with an only intention to merge Paramathma though it has the power to reward anything one ask for!.

Shashtama Prasna: Q6 (Questioned by Sri Sukesan Maharishi)

What is Shodasakala? Who is the person with Sixteen (16) divine parts? i.e. different modes of the Self! What relationship is the relationship of Jeevathma with this person?

One and the only person who has these Shodasakalas are Paramathma/Parabrahma Parameswar. This Universe is derived from that Paramathma hence these sixteen parts are present even in the revealed gross bodies. One need not travel here and there to look for that compassionate God, just look inside, you will find in Sookshmaroopam (subtle form). Humans have the inherent tendency to look outside, that efforts must be turned towards the inner heart to find the place of such Paramathma. The human body is the smallest model of this Universe (cosmic world). Therefore, if God resides in this Universe as the subtle form then the same God's presence must be felt even in our heart because we too are one of the particles in this cosmic world. Those Shodasakalaas are Paramathma's planned creation till dissolution. It starts with 1. Sarvaprana Hiranya Garbham, 2. Bakthi, 3. Asthikhya Bhudhi, 4. Panchamaha Bhoothaas, 5. Anthakaranaas, 6. Pancha Ghnanendriyas, 7. Pancha Karmendriyaas, 8. Annam, 9. Mantraas, 10. Sakthi/Oorjam/Energy, 11. Thapass, 12. Manthraas, 13. Karmaas, 14. Lokaas, 15. Namaass, 16. Roopaas

At the time of Mahapralayam (Dissolution), all those 16 Kalaas and its revealed matter will merge in its original source. Those who understand and realize this truth will attain Moksham (Liberation)  even before the final judgement day. Those who know this Paramatha is inside, outside and everywhere will not get the fear of death or tortures! One can be always with Paramathma through humble spiritual practices!

When Sri Pippalada Maharshi gave his Aathma Gnaanam to his six Maharshi disciples (Sukesan, Sathyakaman, Saurayaayani, Aswalaayan, Bhargavan and Kabandhi) they prostrated in front of him and took a return to their own Asrams.
