NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - OCT-02-2020 : Episode 33 (Final)

Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutramd 83:

Ithyevam Vadhanthi Janajalpanirbhaya Eeka Mathaaha Kumara Vyaasa Sukha saandilya Garga Vishnu Kaundinya seshodhavaaruni Bali Hanoomadh Vibhishanaadhayo Bakthyaa-chaaryaaha!

Ithyevam = Likewise, VadhanthiAs mentioned earlier or said, Janajalpanirbhaya = Not bothered about what others would say, Eeka Mathaaha = Single-minded opinion, Kumara = Sanath Kumar, Vyaasa = Vyas, Sukha = Vyasa's only son Sukha Brahmam, saandilya = sandilyan, Garga = Garga Maharshi, Vishnu = Vishnu Maharshi, Kaundinya = Son of sandilya Maharshi Kaundinya Maharshi, sesh = Adhi seshan, Odhava = Prime Minister of Yadava clan and close friend of Lord Krishna, Vaaruni = Brahma Ghnaani Udhalaka Aaruni, Bali = Grandson of Prahlada Mahabali Chakravarthi, Hanoomadh = Sri Rama Dasan Anjaneyan, Vibhishanaadhayo = Younger brother of Ravana and servant of Lord Sri Rama, Bakthyaa-chaaryaa ha = these noted divine personalities.

Meaning: According to Sage Narada, from time immemorial the practice of Bakthi to reach God is being followed from one clan to another. However, as per the advice and direction of his father Lord Brahma, he decided to propagate this precious Bakthi Maargam by saluting and sharing due respect with such precious masters of Bakthi Margam. These Maha Bakthas (Bagavadotthmaas) are not at all bothered about what others would say about them. They have demonstrated the importance of single-minded devotion towards Lord Hari and made a single opinion that Bakthi is the easiest path to realize God and Godhood. All these Achaaryaas are noted personalities in their field of propagation. Some are composed Bakthi sastras and some acted as a model for Bakthi Sadhana.

The concluding verse says that those who listen to Narada Bakthi Soothram composed by Sage Narada (Guru) and Sri Madh Bagavatham by Sage Veda Vyasa Maharshi (Sishya) will definitely gain the essence of true devotion and merge with God. Sri Madh Bagavatham is a mix of Brahma Soothram and Narada's Bakthi Sastram. One should have Poorva and Iha janma sukrutham to get a chance to know Bakthi Soothram and realize Parabrahman without many difficulties, that was the ultimate goal of Sage Narada which prompted him to compose Bakthi Soothram.

Sutramd 84:

Ya Idham Naardaproktham SivanusaaSanam ViswaSithi sradhatthe, Sa Bakthimaan Bhavathi, Sa Preshtam Labhathe, Sa Preshtam Labhave ithi!

Ya = whoever, Idham = this, Naardaproktham = advised by Narada, SivanusaaSanam = the one which brings gracious, ViswaSithi = with belief, sradhatthe = with faith, Sa Bakthimaan Bhavathi = will become a great devotee, Sa Preshtam Labhathe = achieve the greatest beatitude, Sa Preshtam Labhathe = achieve the greatest beatitude, Ithi = having offered.

Meaning: There is not even an iota of doubt that, those who have belief and faith in this Bakthi Sothram offered by Sage Narada will eventually achieve the ultimate beatitude of Bakthi which will bring peace and happiness in life. Finally, the practising devotee will merge with Lord Parabrahman. Sage Narada offered this Bakthi Soothram to the lotus feet of Lord Maha Vishnu being ever pervaded in this Universe and offer liberation to those who seek.

Again Sage Narada repeating that anyone can practice and enquire about Bakthi. There are no boundaries or pre-qualifications required, everyone is eligible and responsible as well. Ultimately knowing the "Sivam" and merging in it is the final word. Those who have belief, faith and respect for the practice of Bakthi by the Bagavadothamaas (Pramparam Proktham) will automatically become a great devotee. Since devotees are the part and parcel of God, they become one with God.

This Bakthi Margam and its composer Sage Narada received a word of appreciation in Padma Puranam, Uthara Khandam.

Sage Narada tirelessly keep wandering around in all the three worlds to uplift or give a helping hand to those who wholeheartedly try to realize God!

Let us all give a Sashtanga Namaskaram to our great Guru Sri Narada Maharshi and seek his blessings as always! Om Thath Sadh. Sivoham Sivoham Sivoham.

Sivoham... Subamasthu (The Last Episode).

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - SEP-25-2020 : Episode 32

 Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutramd 80:

Sa Keerthyamaanaha seegramevaavirbhavathi Anubhaavayathi Cha Bakthaan!

Sa = That God, Keerthyamaanaha = When praised and worshipped, seegramevaavirbhavathi = Immediately appeared in front of, Anubhaavayathi  = felt his presence, Cha Bakthaan = near devotees.

Meaning: When devotees continuously praised or worshipped, God immediately appears in front of them and bless them with realization. Not only that he makes devotees as his relative or Mithran (Friend) and involve them in his divine plays. God shows his presence among devotees as per their desired form. God is not far from his devotees, one must pray sincerely to feel his presence at any time anywhere.

God is not even expecting the devotee to be hundred per cent perfect, the mode of devotion can vary from Kaama, Krodha, Bhaya, Sneha, Sakhyam and Souhrudham. Continues prayer's result is nothing other than reaching God's abode. Many examples are seen in his life stories. God is also rewarding them Salokhya and Saroopya Mukthi for them. Why can't we try it and see in person? This biggest freedom is given to devotees in our Sanadhana Dharma, no other religion or cult will allow to experiment or cross-question their scriptural verdicts.

Sutramd 81:

Thrisathyasya Bakthireva Gareeyasee Bakthireva Gareeyasee!

Thrisathyasya = For all the three divisions of time, Bakthireva = Devotion alone, Gareeyasee = Preferable or Supreme.

Meaning: At all times i.e. past-present and future devotion alone is the most preferred choice to realize God when compare with other paths such as Karma, Ghyaana and Yoga. One should be lucky to be a genuine devotee with whom God converse as a friend or relative. All realized personalities jointly agreeing to that, the simple and easiest route for realization God is devotion path. Devotional path not only great during Sadhana (seeking or practising period) but also a great path even after Saadhya/Sidha (realized/accomplished) time. God is a relative among devotees and vice versa, wow, what a status God is giving to his devotees! One should grab this opportunity without wasting time.

Therefore Sage Narada repeating again and again that devotion alone is the ultimate path to realize God and achieve Godhood!

Sutramd 82:

GunamAhAthmya-Sakthi, Roopa-Sakthi, PoojA-Sakthi, SmaraNA-Sakthi, DhAsyA-Sakthi, Sakhya-Sakthi, VAthsaylA-Sakthi, KAnthA-Sakthi, AthmanivedhanA-Sakthi, ThanmayA-Sakthi, ParamavirahA-Sakthi, RoopA Eakadha Api EakadhasadhA Bhavathi !

GunamAhAthmya-Sakthi = Interest or attachment to the glorification of blessed qualities of God, Roopa-Sakthi = Attachment to God's beautiful forms, PoojA-Sakthi = Attachment to his worship, SmaraNA-Sakthi = Attachment to his remembrance, DhAsyA-Sakthi = Attachment to his service, Sakhya-Sakthi = Attachment to his friendship, VAthsaylA-Sakthi = Attachment to his filial love to him, KAnthA-Sakthi = Attachment to his consort like love for him, AthmanivedhanA-Sakthi = Attachment to Self-Surrender, ThanmayA-Sakthi = Attachment to being filled/merged with him, ParamavirahA-Sakthi = Attachment to an intense feeling of the excruciating pain of separation from Him, RoopA Eakadha = Though it is one, Api EakadhasadhA Bhavathi =  Manifested in eleven types.

Meaning: Though the Bakti itself only one but it manifests in different ways and forms, preferably eleven types according to Sage Narada. Just simple innocent unconditional love continuously flows towards God is called Bakthi. There is no pre-requisite qualifications are needed to practice Bakthi. It is applicable to all human race. How many types of devotees are there that many types of devotional paths exist. God welcomes all practices. Due to the inbound nature of individual devotees, their approaches to God also differ. Great and realized devotees club those practices under 3, 5, 9 and 11 types. According to Sage Kapila devotion is classified into three division such as SAthweekam, Raajasam and ThAmasam. Realized devotee Chaithanya classified into 5 types such as Santham, DhAsyam, Sakhyam, VAthsalyam and Madhuram. According to realised devotee Prahlaadha, it is classified into 9 types such as sravanam, keerthnam, Smaranam, PAdhasevanam, Archanam, Vandhanam, DhAsyam, Sakhyam and Aathmanivedhanam. According to Sage Narada it is 11 types such as sravanam, keerthnam, Smaranam, PAdhasevanam, Archanam, Vandhanam, DhAsyam, Sakhyam and Aathmanivedhanam, Thanmayam and Paramaviraham.

Examples of those 11 types Bakthis and its Heros are:

GunamAhAthmya-Sakthi = Narada and Vyasa, Roopa-Sakthi = Devotees of Vrindavan, PoojA-Sakthi = Ambarishan and Prudhu, SmaraNA-Sakthi = Prahladan, DhAsyA-Sakthi = Hanuman, Sakhya-Sakthi = Udhava and Arjuna, VAthsaylA-Sakthi = Yasodha and Kausalya, KAnthA-Sakthi = Rukmini, Sathyabhama and other consorts, AthmanivedhanA-Sakthi = Mahabali and Vibhishana, ThanmayA-Sakthi = Sanaka-Sananda-Sanathana-Sanathkumar, ParamavirahA-Sakthi = Gopikaas.

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - SEP-18-2020 : Episode 31

Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutramd 77:

Sukha-Dhuke-Chhaalaabha-Dhithyakthe Kaale Pratheekshamaanne Kshanaardhamapi Vyartham Na Neyam!

Sukha-Dhuke-Chhaalaabha-Dhithyakthe =Sukham (Pleasure), Dhukkam (Pain), Icha (Desire), Laabham (Profit) and pleasure considerations, Kaale Pratheekshamaanne = While waiting for the Jeevan to exit the body, Kshanaardhamapi Vyartham Na Neyam = Do not waste even a minute.

Meaning: Sage Narada says, do not waste time even a second without any use to self or to others, although you might have already achieved God-realization, yet keep in touch with all types of Bakthi Sastras and its supporting devotional activities. There is no exemption to a layman vs realized person, all should practice Bakthi sastras for safety purpose while waiting to die. Even though the Ghnaani (realized person) is not duty bound (mundane) yet he/she must devote their valuable time to uplift normal people that is what Sage Veda Vyasa and myself did. Due to which the current generations were blessed to receive Srimad Bhagavatham and Bakthi Soothram and many scriptures from innumerable realized people.

Every day, think of glories of God and live with God, eat with God, roam around with God, sleep with God. Ultimately, there is no detachment from God even a second.

Sutramd 78:

Ahimsa-Sathya-Soucha-Dhaya-Sthikhyaadi Chaarithryaani Paripaalaneeyaani!

Ahimsa-Sathya-Soucha-Dhaya-Sthikhyaadi = Ahimsa, Sathyam, Soucham, Dhaya and Aasthikhyam Chaarithryaani Paripaalaneeyaani = These Sadhaachaarams and noble activities must be practised.

Meaning: When even casual people are supposed to follow these Sadhaachaarams where is the question of realized people not following? A Saadhaka (Seeker) should follow Sadhaachaarams for own welfare and progress, at the same time a Sadhyan (Realized) must follow for the same of himself/herself and the general public. Devotees are not allowed to do nonsense with an expectation that at the time of death God will eventually give them Moksham (liberation) by quoting all demons as an example. As long as a devotee, even the realized ones, having the body consciousness must be carefully practised all Sadhaachaaranushtaanm.

Ahimsa = Not to hurt any living being by word, mind or action, Sathyam = Seeing ever pervading Brahman in everything equally, Saucham =  Action without any expectation, Dhaya = Having compassion towards all suffering people, Aasthikhyam = Faith in Guru vachanam and sasthra grantha (scriptures) vachanam (instructions) as prescribed and authorized by the Vedas. All these virtuous must be followed by all types of human beings irrespective of their caste and creed.

Sutramd 79:

Sarvadha Sarva Bhaavena Nischinthaihi Bhagavaaneva Bhajaneeyaha!

Sarvadha = Always, Sarva Bhaavena = All types of care and aspects, Nischinthaihi = Detaching from all other thoughts, Bhagavaaneva = God alone, Bhajaneeyaha = Pray.

Meaning: A true devotee must give up all other unwanted activities and thoughts and concentrate fully only on God and his/her glories. The greatest sage Sri Veda Vyaasa says that after realizing and writing various scriptures I have realized that anything is nothing other than merging with Supreme Brahman Lord Mahavishnu.

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - SEP-11-2020 : Episode 30

 Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutram 75:

Baahulya-avakaasathwaadh Aniyathathwaachha!

Baahulya-avakaasathwaadh = The right to differ while in an argument, Theshu = The conclusion may not have authenticity because it depends upon the skills of the arguer.

Meaning: Usually the arguments will have no end until the arguer tries to win over the debate or establish his/her understanding about a subject, that conclusion or conviction may not have substances, because it depends upon the arguer's arguing skills and knowledge. Sometime it may be true and good but most of the time it is not since the arguer is not a genuine spiritual master. Therefore, Sage Narada strongly recommends that spiritual seekers should avoid any type of arguments whether it is good or bad. The seeker may not have profound knowledge on the subject but he/she may be dragged into misunderstanding which will spoil their success or hinder spiritual growth.

Sutram 76:

Bakthi saSthraani Mananeeyaani, Thadh-bhodhaka-Karmaani Karaneeyaani!

Bakthi saSthraani  = Doctrines of devotion (Bakthi), Mananeeyaani = Must byheart or accept, Thadh-bhodhaka Karmaani = The works that promote and nourish the devotion should be, Karneeyaani = Must act or uphold.

Meaning: The seeker must study and understand the values and concepts of Bakthi saStraas (spiritual texts) also one must act on the advice given in the text and masters' must be practised which can enhance the present understanding about devotional practices. Moreover, one must stay away from any acts that may ruin or destroy spiritual convictions.

The seeker or any type of devotee must spend their valuable time to understand more about Bakthi saStram and show laziness to know about the opposite route. The spiritual devotee must practice Dhamanam, Sathyam, samam, Dhamam. He/She should try to learn more about their personal God's Avatar (birth), Karma (acts) and Glories (gunaas). They must listen, propagate and meditate upon God. The devotee must do everything with a total surrendering attitude towards God.

There are so many types of thieves in and around us to hinder our progress in the spiritual path. Therefore, be careful of all these thieves (hereditary and acquired VaaSanaas).

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - SEP-04-2020 : Episode 29

Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutram 72:

Naasthi Theshu Jaathi-Vidhya-Roopa-Kula-Dhana-Kriyaadhi Bhedhaha!

Naasthi = Not applicable or Nil, Theshu = Among Eakantha Bakthaas or to become a true devotee, Jaathi-Vidhya-Roopa-Kula-Dhana-Kriyaadhi = Jaathi (caste), Vidhya (Education), Roopa (Beauty/Colour), Kula (Clan/Race), Dhana (Wealth), Kriya (Occupation/Actions) etc...

Meaning: To become a true devotee (Eakantha Bakthi), no qualifications are required according to Sage Narada as well as God himself. However, the devotee must possess only sheer innocent and Aathma samarpana devotion towards God. Likewise, discipline (Aachaarams) or age does also not matter. Satsangam (the company of wise people) will highly support and help in realizing this truth. Hundreds of examples quoted in Srimadh Bhagavatham and other Puranic divine events. In other words, such true devotees can take birth in any families, parents should make such requests to God before entering into Garbhadhaana Kriya or if already born then create such an environment for the children to become a close devotee of God.

Sutram 73:

Yathasthadheeyaaha!

Yatha = Why because Thadheeyaaha = They belong to God

Meaning: Why there are no conditions attached to true devotees such as caste and other status is because they belong to God himself. No pre-requisite qualifications are needed for God to chose or grab one person as his devotees. God sees only their true devotion to shower his grace on them. You may wonder why so many Sastras, Rules and Regulations and Puranas etc.. keep giving conditions to become a devotee is only to uplift or raise humans from animal and demonic nature. So, now the path is cent per cent clear to worship God. Fortunately, following all prescribed formalities by the Vedas can only add value to or supplement the devotional activities. That is the benefits and concept of spiritual activities.

One must know that this universe and its belongings all belong to God only. Therefore, if there is no choice or survival the living beings will eventually fall into God's protection, this is the law of nature. Whether we pray to God or not, God will not leave us from his fold because we are his wealth! God will keep giving us more and more chances to realize the truth. That does not mean that we have to take advantage of the soft nature of God.

Sutram 74:

Vadho Naava-lambyaaha!

Vaadha =  Arguments or debates, Na-Avalambyaaha = Do not depend.

Meaning: As a spiritual seeker, one should not enter into arguments with anyone especially those who do not support your principles or faith. At any situation, the seeker must avoid disputation with others. However, samvadham (clarifications with scholars) may not pull us down. At the same time once the devotee becomes God's own (by realization) there will be no need for arguments anyway! Arguments by nature are not truthful, it only race the ego and try to establish what he/she is saying is correct. The heart of every human being has a way to realize God that is none other than simple bhakti (devotion), to practice Bakthi Yogam all we need is a Guru and Bakthi Sastraas such as this. This is the first and final word for a true devotee. Once he/she convinced about it, there is no need to spend even a minute on others doctrines. Nothing is a bigger and easiest method than Bakthi Yogam. Just stay away from arguments on account of religious and other spiritual paths.

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - AUG-28-2020 : Episode 28

 Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutram 69:

Threethi Kurvanthi Threerthani, Sukarmee Kurvanthi Karmaani, Sachhasthree Kurvanthi Saastraani!

Threethi Kurvanthi Threerthani = They (Mukhya Bhakthars) turn the ordinary bathing places into sacred places of purification, Sukarmee Kurvanthi Karmaani = Ordinary acts into pious deeds, Sachhasthree Kurvanthi Saastraani = Words of instructions into holy text (sastras).

Meaning: Sage Narada says that the Mukhya Bakthaas are so pure hence they purify the normal water into holy water just by touching or taking bath in it. Likewise, whatever work they do the rewards of the acts and the way of doing itself become purest deeds. Not only that their words of instruction will become holy text as Sastras. There is a reason for all these to happen because they adore God in them and they are walking Gods on this earth. Bagwan Sri Krishna mentioned the same to Sage Veda Vyaasa that wisemen are the Threetham (purified). God's idols and established holy rivers or water resources all take time to purify a person, whereas my greatest devotee's (Mukhya Bakthaas) one look on a person is enough to purity that object, such as the power of Parabakthas. Nobel devotees (Eakantha Bakthaas) Achaara Anushtaanam becomes the source or foundation for Dharma. Parabakthaa's experience is the witness for this claim.

Sutram 70:

Thanmayaa!

Thanmayaa = Absorbed by God and vice versa.

Meaning: They are (Eakantha Bhaktas) full of Godhood and Godly. That is the reason why they could transform the impure into purity by their association. To make everything pure one must have the presence of the grace of God. These Eakantha devotees are God's moving forces, wherever they go they will purity things in and around them.

Sutram 71:

Modhanthe Pitharo, Nruthyanthi Devathaaha, Sanaadhaacheyam Bhoorbhavathi!

Modhanthe Pitharo = Ancestors (manes) are delighted with them, Nruthyanthi Devathaaha = Gods dance with joy, Sanaadhaacheyam Bhoorbhavathi = The Earth is happy with their existence.

Meaning: When a devotee (Mukhya Bhakta/Para Baktha/Eakantha Baktha) becomes or take birth in a family, the Pithrus (living as well as ancestors) of that family will be delighted and shower blessings on them at the same time the Devataas (Divine/celestial personalities) will dance with joy. Moreover, the earth will be blessed due to his/her holiness and carry them on Her (Earth) head. Mother Earth will be sanctified due to their presence and bow down to them being a Dharmic Para Baktha.

Usually, every human being is endowed with inherited five unavoidable debts (Pancha Rinaas). They have to fulfil and get rid of these debts through various hard work. These debts are of Devas, Rishis, Bhoothaas, Humans and Pithrus. In casual mode, it will take innumerable births to get rid of these debts, whereas when a devotee becomes Eakantha Devotee (Totally surrender to God), from that minute he/she is relieved from all such debts and freed because of the devotee's full surrender (Aathma Samarpanam).

Mother Earth becoming impure and restless only because of Sinners, Adharmees and lack of Para Bakthaas, whereas, the birth of a Para Baktha can change the situation and Mother Earth become divine and good things will be experienced by the dwellers of Earth!.

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - AUG-21-2020 : Episode 27

 Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 04 – Bakthi Lakshanam:

Sutram 66:

Thri-roopa Bhamgapoorvakam Nithya-dhaasa Nithyakantha Bhajanaathmakam Prema Kaaryam Premaiva Kaaryam!

Thri-roopa Bhamgapoorvakam = One must surpass or give up the acts of three types of Bakthi, Nithya-dhaasa Nithyakantha Bhajanaathmakam = And adopt devotion like an eternal servant or eternal wife,  Prema Kaaryam = do with love and affection, Premaiva Kaaryam = depend only the pure innocent love.

Meaning: The three-dimensional love must be renounced, (they are under the group of Gauna Bakthi = Sathwa/Uthama/Jignaasu Bakthi, Rajas/Madhyama/Arthaarthi Bakthi, Thamas/Praakrutha/Aarthi Bakthi), and adopt the serving mindset of an eternal servant or eternal wife. Both are 100% committed to their Swamis and don't hold anything in them as their own. They are fully surrendered to their master, such an attitude towards God is considered as Niraakaara Bakthi or Ghnaana Bakthi. This should be the goal of true devotees known as Para-Bakthan.

Such devotees quickly merged into God just like a worm is pulled by the flow of water into a river. The devotee will be submerged into God without any specific efforts because of total surrendering. This devotee is a permanent relative of God and God loves him/her beyond estimations. Unless one does Aathma Samarpanam he or she can't be considered as eternal servant or wife.

Therefore, every devotee must earn the love of God yes only love of God nothing other than that!

Fourth Chapter completed here: Hare Krishna!

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 05 – Bakthi Mahima:

This chapter deals with the importance of devotion and devotees!

Sutram 67:

Baktha Eakandhino Mukhyaaha!

Baktha = Devotees, Eakandhino = A non-dual attachment, Mukhyaaha = Important.

Meaning:  Devotees who are exclusively attached to God are his best of devotees. God always think of them likewise devotees always think of God. Both of them are mutually and eternally connected. After developing this connection it will never break the bond and both of them lives in oneness!.

Those who attained Godhood are considered to be Mukhya Bakthaas. This Mukhya Bakthaas fall under fourth division of devotees. They have seen God in person and interacted with him/her.

Sutram 68:

Khandaavarodha-Romaanjaa-srubhihi Parasparam Lapamaanaaha Paavayandhi Kulaani Prithiveem Cha!

Khandaavarodha-Romaanjaa-srubhihi = Struggle in talking or explaining, thrilled, goose-bumped, tears rolled out of eyes, Parasparam = each other, Lapamaanaaha = talking to another, Paavayandhi = Purifies, Kulaani = the entire clan, Prithiveem Cha = and this earth or wherever they lived.

Meaning: Whenever and wherever they hear or see their God's glories being heard or seen, they get thrilled and goose-bumped, moreover they can't converse the feeling they are undergoing with others because no words will come out of their throat since it will be choked. That is the type of feeling Mukhya Bakthas are experiencing! We are fortunate to take birth in Bharata Varsham, imagine, how many innumerable such Mukhya Baktaas took birth in this holy land and cherished the glories of God. If I have to write at-least 1000+ such devotees can be referred. In fact, I am losing control of my fingers while typing this narration.

Such devotees purify their clan (family), liberate their Pithrus, the land where they lived, the place they visit, the people who interacted with them all got transformed their life. Such devotees are rare and if anyone comes across them in their life are the luckiest in this earth. That is the greatness of a genuine Mukhya Bakthaas.

NARADA BAKTI SUTRAM - TAMIL UPANYASAM - AUG-14-2020 : Episode 26

 Om Namasivaya Nama:

Narada Bakthi Suthram - Chapter 04 – Bakthi Lakshanam:

Sutram 64:

Abhimaana-DhamBhadhikam Thyaajyam!

Abhimaana = Pride, DhamBhadhikam = Vanity and other immoral activities, Thyaajyam = Must give up / renounced.

Meaning: Pride, Vanity and other types of immoral activities are part and parcel of our inborn qualities. If one gets a chance it will immediately show up, therefore, one must be very careful to stay away from the attack of these enemies. Pride comes along with education, wealth, popularity etc and Vanity arise out of false prestige. Unless the seeker/devotees completely eradicate these two important hidden enemies it is difficult to progress in spiritual life. These qualities are the inherited properties of demonic nature moreover, unrighteousness, limited spiritual knowledge, pride, anger, rough talk, non-discriminative nature are also considered as demonic characters. If any of the devotees/seekers are falling into these qualities he/she should realize that the demonic qualities are overruling them!

God loves those devotees who are free from pride such as "I am born in a royal class family, I know to do Thapas, I am white skin, I belong to one of the most popular Asram, I am a Brahmin" etc. If one happens to get birth as well as a chance to practice spiritual acts, he/she must be ever thankful to God and be submissive so that one can be a relative of God.

Sutram 65:

Thadharpithaakhilaachaaraha San Kaam-Krodhaabhimaanadhikam Thasmin-nneva Karaneeyam!

Thadharpithaakhilaachaaraha San = All acts should be offered to God even the feelings such as Kaam-Krodhaabhimaanadhikam = Desires, Anger and Pride etc Thasmin-nneva = Upon Him only (God), Karaneeyam = Entertained with reference to Him (God).

Meaning: Deposit all actions and its rewards irrespective of its nature to God alone (Good or Bad). Whenever one gets under the influence of Kama-Krodha and Pride that too even direct towards God and be free from ownership. Here, sage Narada says not only surrender your Karma Rewards (Actions) but also Karma itself. When the seeker direct all-natural or inherited feelings towards God, that itself take the form of Bakthi (Devotion). Converting all inherited six hidden enemies into friends is the goal of Bakthi Yogam (Spiritual devotional acts). It is difficult to curb them, therefore it is better to change its direction towards God who is capable of taking care of its adverse effects. Be proud of being a genuine devotee and able to serve God and Godmen. In case one is unable to hold his/her mind in God, then the easy way to conducting activities is do your Karma without expectations of its rewards.

Every type of living beings reached God irrespective of their livelihood and nature whether through Bakthi or Relation or Kaama or Anger or Revenge or Fear or Love (Example Sages, Yadhavaas, Gopikaas, Sisupaalakaas, vice kings, Kamsa and Pandavaas). Therefore, some sort of refuge must be made with God (Lord Sri Krishna).

Santhiroopaath = It is a Natural Peace, Paramaanandaroopaachha = And, a Nature of perfect bliss.

Meaning: Bakthi is easy to practice because it is a natural peace and perfect bliss. There is no complication nor rules and regulations to practice Bakthi. If God likes it, that is the end.

Sutram 61:

Lokahaanow Chintha Na Kaaryaa, Nivedhithmaloka Veda seelathwaathu!

Lokahaanow = Feeling that material duties may get disrupted, Chintha = Thinking about, Na Kaaryaa = No need to think and worry about it, Nivedhithmaloka Veda Seelathwaathu = Upon submitting or surrendering self, material duties and spiritual activities.

Meaning: A devotee need not panic or worry about by submitting self, material and spiritual (ritualistic rites) duties to the lotus feet of God. Since it is of the nature of peace and of the nature of bliss why should a devotee worry about in and around himself/herself? Just simply surrender all good, bad, material, spiritual, ritual activities to God and free oneself by holding on to genuine sheer devotion (Bakthi).

Lord Krishna once said in the Gita that I will take care of the comforts of true devotees. This was proved through in many incidents. Not only these incidents were mentioned in the Puranas but also, our own ancestors witnessed many such events that took place in the recent past. (Example Sant Tukaram, Gauranga, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Chembai Vaidhyanath Bhagavathar, Poonthanam, Narayana Battathiri, Kuroor Amma etc...). Maha Bali Chakravarthy was another example quoted in the Bhagavatham. Lord Vaamana took all his properties, rewards of good and bad deeds along with his royal comforts and send him to Suthala Loka and stood as a watchman to his palace.

Anyone who surrender everything to God, the God himself will take care of his/her and their family members too. All one needs is sheer innocent Bakthi!

Sutram 62:

Na Thadha Sidhow Loka Vyavaharo Heyaha, Kinthu Bhalathyaagaha Thadhsadhanam Cha Kaaryameva!

Na Thadha Sidhow = Until one achieves the total surrender (Aathma Nivedhanam) to the God, Loka Vyavaharo = Material activities, Na Heyaha = not renounceable, Kinthu = Whereas, Phalathyaagaha = Rejecting the rewards of activities, Thadhsadhanam Cha = Practice to renounce the benefits of activities, Kaaryameva = Will become the reason or cause.

Meaning: Sage Narada Says, so long as this True Bakthi is not achieved, the ordinary material way of life should not be given up, at the same time, one should thrive to give up (Renounce) the desires and the reward of its actions. The devotee must strictly practice as to how to give up the ego-boosting tendencies and actions so that the Bakthi will grow in him/her. In other words, renouncing, the practice should not get stopped, start renouncing from the small objects to big ones over a period. For a family person, it is not easy to renounce everything, therefore avoid expectations while doing duties and submit the rewards to God.

God says, both Virakthan (Renouncer) and Bakthan (Devotee) must work hard to sustain a decent life since it is his/her basic duty because the pure body (Sareera) is very important to do Aathma Vichaara (Self Meditator) that will eventually lead to Mokha (Liberation).

The person who does not follow the protocols given in the Vedas to be considered as an ignorant and an addict to the senses (non-ascetic). He/She will eventually fall into all types of bad Karmas that will make him/her a permanent member of transmigration (Samsara Dukham) system. Do only what is said in the Vedas and handover the rewards to God (Please note same God will give you back with his blessings on it because God is not interested in material things except our Bakthi Bhaava).

Vedas directed in its Karma Kanda that the person who does as prescribed in the Vedas will be rewarded is only an advertisement! This is basically to create an interest among people to do good things in life.

Therefore, until one achieves Aathma Samarpana status, it is better to do good work and handover the benefits to God.
