Dear Reader,
Very much delighted to upload this topic though I am a firm believer of Karma and the Karma deeds has to be undergone to nullify its deficit balance. However, many people are requesting simple guidance to this subject, therefore I took some spare time due to Covid19 to compile this guide for you. Please make use of it and do what is possible within your means with full dedication.
I said many times in my various discourses that it is better to do self-sacrifice than appointing someone to do for you. I mean whatever Mantra to be chanted and the charity to be made, it is better the afflicted person do it himself/herself than their parents or relatives doing the same quoting silly reasons!

Introduction
We all have arrived on this Earth as
per the wish of Para Brahman, the Creator, the Almighty, the Supreme Soul etc.…
We are here not by accident; we are part of that journey or process or system
and our Aathma (Soul) is also a member of that system. According to Vedas there
are three elements or objects that always exists in this Brahmandam (Universe) irrespective
of the lapse of time and space, they are; Universe, Self-born divine energy and
Jeeva (Soul).
Now the creator (God) creates or
give names, shapes and responsibilities to all its creations that we interact
within our daily life. In this process, innumerable planets, stars including
Sun and Moon got created for a function. There are seven plus two important and
highly significant planets that get close influence over living beings especially
humans. They are known as Navagrahaas (Nine controllers or authorities). To
deal with these Navagrahaas the Creator also created a Sastra called Jyothi
Sastram (Astrology). Astrology is not a science but a specialized applied
science or an art. Now lets us see, how Navagrahaas becoming a Dosham giver
(ill effects) for humans. The reality is that Navagrahaas, not the one who is
creating Dosham for living beings; in fact, everyone’s own past and present Karma
are the reason for it. Navagrahaas are executors who act as per the guidelines
given in the Sastra or the order of the absolute truth (God). We will be born
only based on Karma Deeds.
We, humans, do multiple good and bad
Karmas during our life; accordingly, one must also accept the rewards whether
good or bad. Navagrahaas will ensure that the rewards are given to the right
person, right quality and quantity and get implemented in one’s life. All our
Karmas are summarized into the following nine pockets due to our lifestyle. They
are;
1.
Doing good and bad to oneself
2.
Doing good and bad to own
family, education and wealth
3.
Doing good and bad to
brothers, sisters, friends and all types of interactors
4.
Doing good and bad to
mother and material family members
5.
Doing good and bad to
progeny, indulge in activities through the mind, hidden activities
6.
Doing good and bad to
enemies, medical treatments for self-sustain
7.
Doing good and bad to
spouse and their families
8.
Doing good and bad to
save a life, subordinates, emitting discharges, environmental
9.
Doing good and bad to
father and paternal family members, teachers, charity, God and Karmas.
A person is bound by the rewards of these important good and bad actions only. Accordingly, the Almighty gave the
responsibilities to these nine planets to reward us promptly. There is no point
in blaming Navagrahaas or God or anyone else for what we are undergoing.
However, one must realize their mistakes of the past and ask for pardon in a
specific manner, that is called Prayaschitham.
In other words, one must nullify the debit/credit balance of their account
to move forward towards betterment (sorrowless divine life). Therefore, in the
Veda Sastras of Karma Kandam is giving a specific remedy approach to nullify or
pacify or reverse the effects of Karma Phala (Deeds) and that is what we are
going to deal with it. Everyone will welcome the good rewards but afraid of
bad, this is the truth! Therefore, the Prayaschitham is meant for defending or
minimizing the impact of malefic effects. We need to accept one important rule
that all mistakes can’t be pardoned, certain mistakes can be equalized only by
mercy less punishment (that is why capital punishment is still exercised in our
law system).
Navagrahaas are Sun, Moon (Stellar
Planets), Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn (Planets), Raahu and Kethu
(Shadow Planets). Only these nine Planets have more influence on human beings
as oppose to other planets in this Universe. These Navagrahaas also directly
representing or significators of our nine types of unavoidable activities.
For a layman, it is not easy to
identify the weakness or malefic effects of a planet in their horoscope. Only a good astrologer will be able to identify (some good astrology software’s can
also, provide) and predict in advance that during a specific Dasa period the
life will have a terrible time due to the malefic effects of the planetary position
(Rewards of evil Karma Deeds).
There are some Six Upagrahaas also
influence in our life which need not discuss here (They are mostly used for
Muhoortha / Auspicious Time in elective astrology). These nine Planet’s
influences were notified to us by Lord Maha Vishnu through Sage Parasara, Varaaha
Mihira, Jaimini and other many prominent Sages of Bharata Khandam and other
parts of the world. We know only Bharata Rishis but there are hundreds of western
saints who are doing their best to safeguard people in different parts of the
world. Bharata Rishis is more approachable and ritualistic which is the easiest
way to clean the malefic effects as compared to others. Therefore, now let us
learn how to handle this Prayaschitha Karma by ourselves.
The Prayaschitha Kriya (Remedies) has
16 folds approach. They are;
1. 1. Praatha Smaranam (Wake up Prarthana), 2. Snaanam (Taking Usual Bath), 3. Aushadha
Snaanam (Medicinal Bath), 4. Theertha Snaanam (Divinely Energized
Bath), 5. Yanthra Dhaaranam (Mystical Diagram), 6. Vasthra Dhaaranam
(Wearing specific cloths), 7. Pushpa Dhaaranam (Wearing specific
flowers), 8. Rathna Dhaaranam (Wearing Precious Gemstones), 9. Pooja
(Special Prayer), 10. Sthuthi (Praising the glories of specific God), 11.
Namaskarams (Prostrating in a specific manner), 12. Japam (Chanting
specific Mantram), 13. Dhaanam (Doing specific charity/offerings), 14. Homam
(Offerings in the sacrificial fire), 15. Moorthi Bhajanam (Worshiping
specific God), 16. Vrutham (Fasting).
What is exactly happening when we do
Prayaschitha Kriya? There are two effects. The first one is an open effect and
the second is a subtle effect. The open effect will give self-satisfaction that,
I have asked for a pardon in a specific manner prescribed by the Veda Sastram to
the respective authority. The subtle effect is when we do the Kriya, our body
will produce certain specific hormones to overcome the fear and obstacles that
caused trouble in life since we are thinking about a solution to our problem
in a particular manner. Accordingly, a person will get a positive effect and
start leading a happy life. In other words, our blemishes got vanished! All our
ancient Maharishis want us to be happy in life, for that purpose they spent
their valuable life inventing spiritual and non-Vedic techniques. Such
conclusion is recorded either in Ghnaana and Karma Kanda of Veda Sastram. Most
of the remedial Kriyas will fall under Karma Kanda.
Now, lets us see how one should be
able to do these Prayaschitha Kriyas by oneself and with the help of scholars.
Even though this guide will enable a person to do his/her a few Prayaschitham
by himself/herself. In the end, to get the full benefit, you must give some amount
of money as Dakshina (Cash or Kind) to a learned scholar. According to Dharma
Sastram there will be no effect if you don’t give Dakshina to the right person
for conducting any spiritual activities especially remedies.
Please note, all Prayaschitha Kriya
must be done only after taking appropriate Sankalp (Resolution) in front of
Deity/God or Lighted Lamp/Agni or a Brahmin Scholar.
Usually, any Prayaschitham will give a
better result only when Lagna Lord or Moon Lagna Lord or 9th house
Lord gets aspect or some way of relationship with Jupiter (Guru). This aspect
can be considered either from the natal chart or during Graha Chaaram (current
position of planets). Sastra also expects the five purities (sudhis) while undertaking
a spiritual task to get the full benefit. They are Mana suddhi, Mantra Uchharana suddhi,
Dravya suddhi, Kriya suddhi and Deha suddhi. Without having these suddhis the
desired results may not be achieved. Therefore, tries to be as sincere as
possible rather than blaming sastras.
Some Planets are a remedy for the other planet's malefic effects by nature, it is called "Graha-dosha-hara-graham". They are given below:
Rahu/Kethu Dosham is nullified by Budhan, Rahu and Bhudha Dosham are nullified by Sani, Rahu-Budhan-Sani Dosham is nullified by Kujan, Rahu-Budhan-Sani and Kuja Dosham is nullified by Sukran and all other planet's Doshan is nullified by Guru.
Now let us see the recommendations
of our great sastras.

16.
Vrutham (Fasting)
|
Full or Half fasting on Saturdays. Half fasting

|
General Notes:
1.
Daily do your spiritual
worship whatever you are comfortable with, besides above, listen to spiritual
upanyasam/prabhashanam, listen to your spiritual Guru’s advises and interact
with wisemen & wise women only.
2.
Take two times bath
(morning and evening – morning means before Sunrise and evening means before
Sunset. If odd times, then have a coconut oil lit lamp in the bathroom).
3.
All the said Dosha
Parihaarams may not be possible due to innumerable reasons especially during a bad time. However, whatever is possible within your limits must be done. God
does not want wealth, properties and varieties of food items, all he is
expecting us to repent for the known and unknown misstates and subsequent the sacrifice of comforts.
4.
There are multiple ways
of doing Prayaschitham recommended in the Sastras, however, I have carefully
selected a few easy ones which can be done with or without the help of a
scholar (priest).
5.
Please note, during the
Bhajanam days one must regularly visit the temple, holy places, taking two times
bath, not to consume non-vegetarian foods and alcohol, try to eat the food
offered to God, talk less and try to do Maouna Vruthum (vow of silence) and
avoid adventurous activities.
6.
You can come to know
which Planet is weak or strong in your horoscope by utilizing this method.
First, you need to download an Astro Software from https://www.vedicastrologer.org/jh/
then enter your birth details to cast your horoscope. Thereafter, go to
“Strength” page and find out the results mentioned in “Shadbala %” and
“Ashtavarga Bala”. To know your planets weakness use Shadbala. Whichever planet
is showing the lowest percentage of strength that the planet is weak in your
horoscope? During his Dasa and Sub-Dasa period, you can expect trouble,
especially if that planet is having a cruel portfolio such as 6th, 8th,
12th occupation. The Ashtavarga Bala indicates that low rating month
will be the bad ones. Each month is representing one Sign/Raasi, it starts from
Medam/Mesham till Meenam (i.e. the 2nd box from top end is Mesham
and the first box in Meenam. I am attaching a sample image of a horoscope for
your understanding. Here the Jupiter is the weakest planet followed by Mercury.
FYI Jupiter is 6th and 9th Lord positioning in 7th
house as a debilitated planet, indicating illness, unwanted travel,
misunderstanding with spouse and elders, loss of wealth, illness related to
stomach, thighs, secret parts, hip etc. Now you need to know which month these
troubles could occur. Look at the Ashtavarga chart where Jupiter has fewer
points in Kanya Raasi (Sep-Oct), this month will be the worst hit. As we know,
the major bad event happens even once can complete derailing our life! So, this is
the targeted month the fate is planned something for this Jaathakan (The
Native).
7.
There are multiple ways to
ascertain a planet’s strength and weakness. Therefore, in case of any
confusion, please consult a good professional astrologer.
8.
I would like to warn you that
you must be very careful while selecting the right precious gemstones! Some
stones will have an adverse effect on you. Also, note stone’s carat or size to be
fixed based on your body size (mass).
Most of the gemstones will start giving the effect within 48 hours to 41
days’ time.
9.
Some Bhijakshara Mantra and
Gayathri Mantras are mentioned in the Prayaschitham, however, unless someone
initiates such powerful Mantra it won’t give positive results. Therefore, in the
absence of a competent Guru, consider Lord Soorya Narayana as your Guru and
chant the Mantra.
